AMWA Opens 2010 Honorary Awards Nominations
February 12, 2010 is the deadline for submitting nominations for AMWA's honorary awards to be presented at the 2010 AMWA Annual Conference in Milwaukee, WI. AMWA members may nominate qualified individuals for these awards. The Fellowship Committee considers all nominations for both active and honorary fellowships and recommends the recipients to the AMWA Board of Directors for approval as does the Swanberg Award Committee for the Harold Swanberg Distinguished Service Award.
Award Descriptions and Qualifications
Active Fellowship (limited to 3 per year)
- Recognizes AMWA members who have made substantial contributions to the goals and activities of AMWA and professional accomplishments acknowledged by their peers.
- Candidates must have been active members in good standing for at least 5 consecutive years immediately before nomination.
- Members may nominate themselves.
Honorary Fellowship (limited to 2 per year)
- Recognizes persons who are not members of AMWA for distinguished contributions to any area of communication in the medical or allied professions and sciences.
- Confers nonvoting AMWA membership privileges for 1 year.
Harold Swanberg Distinguished Service Award (limited to 1 per year)
- Named in tribute of the physician who founded AMWA.
- AMWA's highest honor.
- Recognizes an active member of AMWA who has made distinguished contributions to medical communication or rendered unusual and distinguished services to the medical profession.
- Awardee is invited to speak at the Awards Dinner at the AMWA Annual Conference.
Submitting Nominations
Please send nominations and substantiating documentation directly to AMWA headquarters (30 West Gude Drive, Suite 525, Rockville, MD 20850). Deadline for submissions is February 12, 2010. |
