Recognizing Medical Writing Core Competency and Skills

The foundation of this standard-based credentialing program is a direct link between the examination content and job responsibilities of medical communicators. The Medical Writing Certification Commission (MWCC) began its work by completing an extensive job analysis of the profession, critical for developing a psychometrically sound certification examination. This research established key areas of knowledge, skills, and abilities required for practice within the medical writing community. As a result, it was determined that by passing the Medical Writing Certification Examination, professionals who hold this credential demonstrate their understanding of medical writing core competencies.
