Essential Skills (ES) self-study modules are available for you to learn at your own pace, when and where it’s convenient for you. Adapted from the Essential Skills workshops, the modules are designed for medical communicators at all levels of experience and provide long-term value as reference guides.
Each self-study module includes a workbook with examples and exercises, a CD-ROM featuring an interactive PDF of the workbook, a final quiz, and a laminated Quick Reference Guide. For completion of a self-study module to earn credit toward an AMWA certificate, the final quiz must be completed and returned to AMWA headquarters, where it will be scored. Credit for the module will be earned if 85% or more of the questions are answered correctly. The self-study modules are applicable to the Essential Skills certificate, which requires completion of 8 ES credits.
If you would like to receive certificate credit for completing a module, you must enroll in the Essential Skills certificate or be currently enrolled in the Core or Science Fundamentals certificate program before credit can be applied. Only one person can earn credit for any module purchased.
Successful completion of a module quiz can be used to acquire certificate credit as follows:
