Medical Writing Certification Commission
The Medical Writing Certification Commission (MWCC), in collaboration with the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA), has developed the Medical Writer Certified (MWC®) credential that defines the scope of medical writing practice and distinguishes individuals in the field.
Recognizing Medical Writing Core Competency and Skills
The MWCC began its work by completing an extensive job analysis of the profession, critical for developing a psychometrically sound certification examination. The foundation of this standard-based credentialing
program is a direct link between the examination content and job responsibilities of medical communicators.
Research completed by the MWCC established key areas of knowledge, skills, and abilities required for practice within the medical writing community. As a result, it was determined that by passing the Medical Writing Certification Exam,
professionals who hold this credential demonstrate their understanding of medical writing core competencies.
The Medical Writing Certification Commission, with the support of AMWA, is a member of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE).
