The MWC Applicant and Candidate Handbook provides in-depth information on the application process, and will help you understand the eligibility requirements to sit for the exam and the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) assessed by the exam.

The MWC application is designed to determine your eligibility to sit for the exam. Follow the steps below to apply.

• Complete the application form
  
• Include a current resume or CV detailing your experience as a medical writer
  • If applying as a freelancer, it is especially important to substantiate that you meet both the time and medical writing experience requirements. See the FAQ page for recommended additional documentation.
• Obtain two letters of professional reference (download the Request Form for Letters of Reference )
• Provide an official university transcript, preferably an electronic version submitted directly by your university to certification@amwa.org.
  
• Pay the $175 application fee (includes a nonrefundable $75 administration fee). AMWA members receive a $25 discount.
• Submit all application materials by email to certification@amwa.org.

 

Upon review by the MWC Commission, applicants will receive an email regarding eligibility status. If determined to be eligible to sit for the exam, an exam registration link will be provided during the next registration period to pay the appropriate registration fee.
